About NIA
NIA Counseling & Consulting Services (Nia CCS) is a boutique group psychotherapy practice, established in 2015 and was born out of the founder’s passion to help individuals live out their purpose on purpose. Nia (meaning purpose) is the fifth principle of Kwanzaa that focuses on working collectively to restore people and communities to their traditional greatness.
NIA CCS strives to help individuals, couples and families realize the power that lies within them. The power to live their purpose, the power to lead with authority, the power to build and leave a legacy for those who come after them. NIA’s hope is to help individuals win the battle against mental health and life challenges that get in the way of them manifesting the life they desire.
The NIA model incorporates psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic modalities; as well as drawing on holistic non-traditional practices to restore the whole person to their traditional greatness.
Our Approach
NIA has a modern approach to treating the mental wellbeing of all individuals from all walks of life, with a heavy focus on treating those in the Black/African American community. Research shows that Black individuals tend to utilize mental health services at a much lower rate than their White counterparts due to various reasons. Here at NIA, we want to provide a place where individuals can feel heard, feel seen and cared for. NIA understands that one size doesn’t fit all and draws on non-traditional methods and treatments to meet the varying needs of our clients
We have a combined 20 plus years of experience specializing in treating adolescents, young adults and adults in a safe, judgement-free, nurturing environment that focuses on restoring individuals, the families, and couples to traditional greatness. We help those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, racial trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, family disturbances, and so much more. We also focus on men’s mental health and women empowerment and offer training and consultations for new and seasoned therapists.
Our Mission
NIA’s mission is to redefine how mental health is treated by offering a non-traditional modern space where the whole person can be restored to traditional greatness
