NIA Counseling & Consulting Services focuses on Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety and other mental health diagnoses. NIA also dedicate focus on Racial trauma, Racial Identity issues, life transitions with specialization in treating young adults, Women empowerment, Black men's mental health, Child & Adolescents psychotherapy, parenting, and so much more. NIA serves everyone but is extremely passionate about serving the Black/African American community where there is statistically a significant lower utilization of psychological services and issues with access. NIA prides itself in recognizing the gap in treatment and that therapy and what's considered therapeutic may appear different for this population.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a collaborative experience between you and your therapist where you can explore and process your feelings and thoughts in an environment that is judgment free, nurturing, calm and confidential. The goal is to build a trusting relationship with your therapist that will allow you to gain insight into your internal world, shift negative thought patterns, develop healthy coping strategies and so much more.
Couple & Marriage Therapy
Are you struggling to connect and find meaning in your intimate relationship? Has there been challenges communicating? Is there frustration, feelings of loneliness, sadness, and confusion? Has trust been compromised? Are you now feeling there is no way to come back together? There is still hope if you are open to it and we are here to help improve communication, navigate this difficult time and restore that which has been broken.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several clients at the same time. There are different types of group therapy depending on your varying needs. Group therapy has several benefits: It provides a community of individuals supporting each other, individuals may feel less alone, individuals learn from each other and practice positive socialization and interpersonal relationship skills that can be generated to the larger population. These are just a few of the many advantages of participating in group therapy.
Family Therapy
Are you feeling a disconnect within your family? Is there ongoing conflict? Parents struggling to be on the same page? A lack of communication? A lack of structure? Are individuals feeling unheard and misunderstood and your family is struggling to find peace with each other? NIA can help you alleviate tension, resolve differences, and restore the bond and love that still remains.
